Duration ( 8 Nights and 9 Days Treks)
This trek route is official called “JOMOLHARI TREK 2.” This trek is the main high way trail for local people (nomads) of Lingshi and Soi valleys. The trail is well maintened and huts are built in three places by the tourism council of Bhutan. This trek goes till the base of Mt Jomolhari and Tshering Gang.
Day 1
Arrive at Paro. (The flight will be an unforgettable experience. You can see the enthralling peaks such as, Mt Everest, Jomolhari and others. The landing will also be a thrill.) You will be received by a representative of our company who will escort you to your hotel.
Visit Paro’s National Museum, which was once a watchtower (Ta Dzong) and Paro Rimpong Fortress (Castle on a heap of precious Jewels). In the evening, you can take a stroll of Paro town.
- Visit Kyichu Lhakhang which was founded by the Tibetan king Songtshen Gyambo in 659 AD. It was built to subdue the demon occupied lands all over the Himalayas that prevented the spread of Buddhism. The king built 108 temples in a day to overcome the demon.

Day 2 Paro Taktshang
- A visit to Bhutan is incomplete without the hike to Taktshang – “the Tiger’s Lair” – monastery. From the road point it is a five hour round trek along an old trail. Taktshang is one of the most revered religious sites in the Kingdom. Perched on a hill about 1000meter and overlooking the valley, it is an architectural wonder. It is believed that the 8th century Indian Saint and Buddhist Master Guru Padma Sambhava came flying on a tigress, in a fiery form to subdue demons who were obstructing the spread of Buddhism.

Day 3: Trek begins
- Drukgyal Dzong to Shana.
- From Drukgyel Dzong, trek begins, following a farm road and through farm road till Metshena Suspension bridge. Gradually climb through the rice field for two hours and reach a Chorten (stupa), a good spot for lunch. Trail then follows through pine wood forest until you reach the Army check post where you pick required special treks route permit. After 10 minutes cross the suspension bridge to the left side of Paro chu. Walk for thirty minutes to reach to camp.
Day 4
- Shana to Thathangka
- Today is longest and hard day. The trail is rough and stony with many rises and drops through different vegetation zone. You cross Paro River two times till reach to camp site.
Day 5
- Thathangka to Jangothang
- After an hour walk from camp you reach an Army camp. After that trail goes through wide open river valley pass, where you see many yak herder’s permanent houses.
Day 6 Halt
- Halt the day to explore around in many different directions. There are five different places you can explore around. Or take rest and do laundry.
Day 7 Trek
- Jangothang to Lingshi
- Walk towards the north following the river end of the last house in Soe valley, and cross the small wooden bridge and start steep climb for one hour. Walk through the wide open meadow and again start climbing to Nelela pass(4890m). From the pass, decent down 40 minutes; a good place for lunch. After lunch cross the small stream and follow the ridge and drop down to camp.
Day 8 Trek
- Lingshi to Shodu
- Trail starts with a gradual climb following the open meadow valley. After three hours cross the small river on the left side; there is no bridge. Trail start climbing toward Yeala Pass(4935m). From pass it is a long decent to camp.
Day 9 Trek
- Shodu to Barshong
- Trail crosses the Thimphu River seven times to reach Barshong camp. It is a deep gorge vally through dense forest.
Day 10 Trek
- Brshong to Dolemkencho
- After crossing the stream, trail decent steep down to Thimphu river side. There are several ups and downs and several streams. After two hours walk along the Thimphu river, trail starts climbing toward ridge and decent down to the camp.
Day 11 Trek
- Dolankencho to Dodena
- Climb back from the camp to the main trail to a cairn. From here the trail decends through bamboo and hemlock trees. There are some ups and downs till end of the trek. Here you will be served refreshment.
- You will be driven to Thimphu for the night halt.
Day 12 :Thimphu
Bhutan’s capital and the Kingdom’s largest city have a lot to offer. You can begin with a drive to Buddha Point, which has the world’s largest statue of the Future Buddha, Maitreya. From there, you can have a 360 degree close-quarter view of Thimphu and the adjoining areas. The 12th century Changangkha Temple, Takin Zoo and the viewpoint at Sangaygang will be your next destinations. There will also be visits to a nunnery, the Folk Heritage Museum and the Textile Museum. Your last visit before lunch will be the Gross National Happiness (GNH) centre.
After lunch, we will proceed to Tashichho Dzong, a 17th century castle-fortress which today houses the offices of the King, Chief Abbot and government ministries. It is the centre of Bhutanese polity. We will also take the opportunity to see the nearby parliament complex. We will spend the rest of the day watching an archery match and strolling around town.
Day 13: Thimphu
- After breakfast drive along the Thimphu River for 25kms to Tango monastery. Be prepared for a steep climb from the open car park and a 20-minute hike through the blue pine and oak forest to reach the monastery. Tango Monastery was founded in the 12th century by Lama Gyalwa Lhanampa. Phajo Drugom Shigpo also meditated and saw the vision of God Tandin (God with Horse Head), hence the name “Tango” which means horse head.

Day 14 Paro
- In the morning you can have leisure time around Thimphu city. After lunch you will be driven back to Paro.
